Residual Disease and Immune Dysfunction: A Growing Risk of Relapse Forms in Multiple Myeloma

Multiple myeloma remains a relatively complex and incurable disease. Despite improvements in 5-year survival, most patients who are in remission eventually relapse as a result of residual disease. In this segment Dr. Ravi Vij, Associate Professor at Washington University School of Medicine, explains how residual disease and immune dysfunction contribute to multiple myeloma progression.
