National Service Framework for Diabetes

Less than a hundred years ago diabetes was a death warrant. The discovery of insulin in The 1920s was a major breakthrough. Since then, thanks to the dedicated work of scientists, researchers, doctors, and nurses in this country and abroad, there have been huge strides forward in our knowledge of diabetes and the most effective interventions to improve the quality of people’s lives. It remains the case, however, that whilst people can now live more normal lives there is still no cure for diabetes.
