Simulations Plus, Inc. a leading provider of modeling and simulation software and services for pharmaceutical safety and efficacy, today announced record-setting attendance and virtual content delivery for the 2022 Pharmacometrics Spring School using MonolixSuite™. New for 2022 was the introduction of the “NCA, bioequivalence, and beyond! Spring School” course using PKanalix™. Both workshops were held in March 2022.
This year’s Spring Schools focused on population modeling for model-informed drug development and simulations of clinical trials using the MonolixSuite, and the analysis of PK data using non-compartmental analysis and bioequivalence calculations using the PKanalix platform. These courses, which were free to the pharmacometrics community, comprised both theoretical discussions and hands-on sessions.
In total, there were 936 attendees from over 50 countries. The attendees were industry professionals from regulatory agencies, pharma companies, biotech, and CROs, as well as students and doctoral/postdoctoral researchers, with different backgrounds, who used the skills taught in these courses to make their modeling and simulation work more powerful and efficient.

CASI Pharmaceuticals, Inc. a U.S. biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing innovative therapeutics and pharmaceutical products, announced today, that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as granted Orphan Drug Designation for CNCT19, an investigational CD-19 directed CAR-T therapy, for the treatment of patients with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
CNCT19 is currently being developed independently by Juventas to meet the urgent clinical needs of patients with hematologic malignancies globally. The National Medical Products Administration has granted CTA approval for CNCT19 in two indications in Nov. 2019. Currently, the Phase II clinical trials of CNCT19 are in progress. Positive clinical data for adult and pediatric patients with relapsed/refractory B-ALL has been presented at the December 2021 ASH annual meeting, which further demonstrated its safety and efficacy profile. CNCT 19 is expected to be the first domestic CD19 directed CAR-T product in China with independent intellectual property rights.

SoniVie, an Israeli company developing a novel proprietary Therapeutic Intra-Vascular Ultrasound System to treat a variety of hypertensive disorders, announced that on May 5th 2022 the U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted IDE approval for its "REDUCED1" Pilot study to treat Resistant Hypertension Patients with Renal Artery Denervation using TIVUS™, its innovative Ultra-Sound Ablation System.
Resistant hypertension is defined as blood pressure higher than 140/90 mmHg despite use of three antihypertensive medications of different classes at the best tolerated doses, one of which must be a diuretic. Millions of people world-wide suffer from resistant hypertension which substantially increases the risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney failure.

AIkido Pharma Inc. announced that the Company and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center have agreed under their Master Collaboration Agreement to co-fund and codevelop a novel immuno-oncology treatment designed to promote the destruction of cancer cells by a patient's own "killer" T-cells.
The Company and Cedars-Sinai will share costs, expenses and management of the drug co-development and will leverage the talent of Cedars-Sinai Technology Ventures and the lead scientists who originated the novel treatment. The parties will also share in the proceeds of any commercialization of the treatment.
The compounds to be codeveloped target the cellular pathway that causes CD8+ T-cells to enter an "exhausted state," rendering them ineffective against cancer cells. The new treatment targets and blocks recently discovered transcription factors essential for T-cells to enter the "exhausted state," the goal of which is to strengthen the ability of a patient's T-cells to retain their capacity to destroy cancer cells.
