Advancing Early Cardiovascular Drug Discovery

Innovation continues to be a primary driver of value in pharmaceutical research. However, simultaneously, research budgets are coming under ever-increasing pressure. As a consequence, pharma is moving toward a so-called open research model, one that dispenses with recurrent fixed costs in favor of a more flexible and dynamic external “spend.” By adopting this model, pharma could tap into innovation outside their walls. In this webinar, case studies will be presented highlighting the value of such collaborations, while focusing on discovery campaigns that employ highly relevant functional assays.

A Novel Approach to ALS Trial Development

ICON

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disorder affecting some 40,000 individuals in Europe at any time, causing 10,000 deaths each year. As with other age-related neurodegenerative diseases, the drug development field is littered with inconclusive or negative trials. Modifying Immune Response and Outcomes in ALS (MIROCALS) is an international European Union H2020-funded trial of low-dose interleukin-2 in motor neuron disease (MND)/ALS. It aims to break this impasse in the development of disease-modifying agents through novel trial design, incident (early post-diagnosis) recruitment, integration of biomarkers/transcriptomics and cohort stratification. Join this webinar to hear about an overview of the study in addition to a discussion of the challenges both anticipated and unanticipated in recruiting participants recently diagnosed with a rare, rapidly disabling and ultimately life-limiting condition.

Translational Pharmaceutics and the Benefits of Real-Time Adaptive Manufacturing

quotientsciences

Many pharma companies are seeking new ways of making drug development more efficient and cost-effective through innovation, new technologies and process evolution. This has led to an increase in the outsourcing of development activities to contract research partners who focus solely on disciplines such as discovery chemistry, clinical testing, and formulation development and manufacturing.
