Welcome to the future of pharma

November 18, 2019 / ADAM BROWNSELL, PETER BROWN

Innovation in pharma is playing a key role in transforming science, healthcare and even the wider society. From the chance discovery of penicillin to the Human Genome Project – one of the world’s largest collaborative scientific endeavours – we have seen the eradication of devastating diseases, improvements in patient outcomes and an exponential increase in global life expectancy. Despite these achievements, there is always significant need for present-day pharma to boldly step forward and embrace tomorrow’s technologies. Global society faces a plethora of growing pressures that make the future of healthcare uncertain. An ageing population, the complexity of therapeutic targets and the astronomical expense and high attrition rates in drug commercialisation are but a few of the challenges impacting healthcare.
